This project included the elimination of 32,408 SF of retail space and new construction of 95,281 SF of self-storage space (approximately 900 units) located behind the existing retail strip facing East Gude Drive in Rockville. The self-storage facility itself is comprised of a total of five stories. Enhancements to the existing facade of the strip center included increasing the retail height by up to 18 feet to provide for a more visible retail presence and reconfiguration of the existing drive-through pad site to accommodate a new drive-through use.
“It was truly rewarding to take part in the demolition of an unoccupied nightclub and new ground-up, 100k SF storage building with the adjacent shopping center façade renovation. Gude Self Storage is 75 feet tall and can be seen from a distance in this area, including from the Doyle headquarters. It was great to be a part of this new improvement as part of a city-wide initiative to enhance property and life for the public.”
